How We Got Here
NFASD was built on decades of hands-on fire alarm and low-voltage experience. JW and Tom have worked every side of the industry — design, installation, inspection, and engineering — and they started NFASD to give contractors a reliable, fast, design partner they could actually count on. No big firm overhead. No slow turnarounds. Just experienced designers who know what the AHJ's wants to see.

J.W. Triplett IV, ET
Principal Designer & Co-Founder
With 18 years in the security and fire alarm industry, JW has led design and sales engagements for one of the world’s largest providers. His work spans State and Local Government, Education, and Healthcare, where he focuses on code‑compliant design, clear documentation, and responsive client service. JW holds a NICET Level III certification in Fire Alarm Systems Design(ID#144108).
Tom Ellis
Principal Designer & Co-Founder
Tom is the former owner of Ellis Design & Drafting, LLC and brings 25+ years of experience to the security and fire alarm/life‑safety industry. He has delivered high‑quality, code‑compliant drawings and helped shape drawing standards adopted in several states. Earlier in his career, Tom worked in the aerospace sector, including assignments supporting the Navy’s Top Gun training facility. Since moving into life safety, he’s been known for clear documentation, practical coordination, and on‑time, approval‑ready submittals.
